Trending Engagement Ring Looks for 2022

During the last couple of years of lockdowns, we have seen many engagements and my clients taking our brief moments of freedom to get a muddy knee and pop the question! I think it’s safe to say Love has still blossomed even those we haven’t been able to leave the house much in the last two years.

Narrow Rings

Thin engagement ring bands or shanks is something I’ve been asked for more and more. I always say to my clients it’s a balancing act as, if you go too thin, then this will affect the longevity of the band and could lead to it bending and becoming easily damaged. I recommend no thinner than 1.8mm at the mid point. Another way of making the band look narrower is to use a knife edge profile which gives the illusion of the shank being wafer thin but still has the strength it needs.

Unique Rings and Personal Touches

Personal touches to the design is also proving really popular, with people asking me to do more engravings along with custom designs that are a little less usual. But, as this is something I actively encourage, it’s no great surprise.

Geometric Inspired designs

I’ve also seen more and more Geometric inspired rings being both requested by my clients and also my the Jewellery houses in central London. One of my recent favourites was a wedding band were we faceted the outside surface into a geometric pattern. I’ve uploads some images below.

Antique Inspired Rings

Vintage looks have been really popular recently with many of my clients wanting an antique inspired ring with milgrain (beaded edge) and fine detail but still working with fancy cut diamonds. The Art Deco-inspired engagement ring was a beautiful bespoke piece that used the milgram edge that was applied by hand.

Oval Cut Diamonds

Oval cut solitaire have also been really popular. This, paired with a really narrow ring, makes a great look. Here’s an example of one I finished yesterday in 18ct yellow gold.
